The revised DEP Manure Management Manual released in October 2011 requires all landowners in Pennsylvania that produce or apply animal manure to develop and implement a written Manure Management Plan (MMP). This also includes equine operations (large and small) as well as small animal operations. Any operations having pastures or Animal Concentration Areas are also required to comply.

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has required conservation districts to reach out to all agricultural operations; operations importing manure and/or generating manure within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and inform them of their regulatory obligations.

Click here for a complete overview of the Manure Management Guidelines.

The Columbia County Conservation District staff is willing to help you complete you Manure Management Plan.  We will assist you with identifying environmentally sensitive areas, application setbacks, animal concentration areas and other regulatory requirements.  The CCCD will also provide you with information to improve your operation at a low cost.

If you decide to complete the MMP on your own, see documents on the left of the page for assistance.

To create maps of your property visit PAOneStop.  This document can assist you with that program.

If you need assistance contact the Columbia County Conservation District at 570-317-9456.
